The shoreline around Aberdeen boasts some of Scotland’s finest coastal scenery. Spectacular red-sandstone cliffs are broken by secluded coves, riddled with caves and inlets, once teeming with smugglers and contraband. From the cliff-top paths, walkers can take in the magnificent seascapes and the dramatic sunsets over the Highlands to the West.
Further inland, flanked by the Grampian mountains, sparkles the soft, peaty water of the famous Spey River, a vital ingredient of some of Scotland’s finest whiskies. The river is also famous amongst anglers as a fly fisher’s paradise, with pools rich in salmon and brown trout.
