Troon
Quiet, civilised town of red-sandstone Victorian buildings looking out over the gently curving Ayr Bay. Troon is world famous for its golf links and courses, including Royal Troon, set on the shore a little above the long sandy beach. An aerofoil ferry operates daily between Troon Harbour and Belfast in Northern Ireland.
