Eating, Drinking and Nightlife in Scotland

Food in Scotland is at its best with local produce - beef, fish, shellfish and game. Start the day with a full Scottish breakfast. Similar to an English cooked breakfast but with the additional choices of black pudding, potato scones, skirlie and porridge. Later in the day rich soups like Scotch Broth, Cullen Skink made with smoked haddock are perfect after a morning outdoors. Haggis is made from spiced liver, oatmeal, offal and onion. Beef, venison are the popular, succulent meats. Grouse and pheasant are the most delicious, rich game you can find. Drink in Scotland is synonymous with whisky, matured malts and famous names of blended whiskies which are found all over the world. Scotland is also a brewing country with large national brewers as well as small boutique breweries, many of which can be visited.

Nightlife in Scotland centres round the cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen which have discos and bars with entertainment. The smaller cities and towns have their own entertainments. The evening newspapers keep you informed of what is happening and where.
